1. What can clog your pipes?

Wash basin water does not flow anymore? Your shower refuses to empty? Odors come back from your sink? Your pipes are clogged, but do not panic!
The culprits? Most of the time, you are dealing with organic caps: clumps of hair, hair, fat or stuck food that blocks the flow of water. In other cases, it is a material plug: insoluble and hard elements clog your pipe.
In everyday life, we advise you:
as a general rule: do not throw solid objects into your pipe!
in the bathroom: collect fallen hair to prevent it from gathering at the bottom of the siphon.
in the kitchen: before washing the dishes, empty them well in the trash. Also avoid putting oils or grease in the sink.
You will also find commercially useful filters to place in your sink or shower.
Prevention bonus tip: Did you know that putting a little coffee in the sink with a little hot water is ideal for deodorizing the pipes and preventing grease from sticking?

2.Unclog your pipes with recipes of grandmothers

Better avoid the use of chemicals that must be handled with great care to avoid burns, among others. Instead, focus on the natural products used by our grandmothers, including:
boiling water: and yes! Think of pouring into your clogged pipeline of boiling water is the first reflex to have. Sometimes this is enough to dilute the cork if it is taken at the earliest!
the mixture of baking soda and white vinegar: 20 cl of white vinegar, 200 grams of baking soda, 200 grams of coarse salt. Mix the ingredients and pour into the pipes. Leave for 20 to 30 minutes then pour the boiling water.
white vinegar with soda: 1/3 white vinegar, 1/3 soda, 1/3 salt. Mix in a container, let stand and pour boiling water. The acidic action of the soda makes it possible, in contact with salt and vinegar, to kill the bacteria and to eliminate the plugs.

3. Natural pipe openers

You can also find organic drainers on the market. Unlike chemicals, they owe their efficiency to natural micro-organisms that will remove waste.
Without acid or sodium, they act on organic stoppers (soap, grease, starch) and unpleasant odors, without attacking your piping. Bio-degradable, they are healthy for your health … And the environment!
Put in preferably in the evening to allow the product time to digest the cork during the night.

As soon as you see that a pipe is clogged, you can:
use a suction cup: place it on the opening of the pipe tightly, press it to suck and repeat the operation until the water flows.Simple and often effective!
clean the siphon: place a bucket underneath to recover any waste or water flow, unscrew it (with pliers or unscrewing the bung if equipped). Clean the rubbish on the floor by scraping with a brush, swab or hanger. Then clean with soapy water.
take a plumbing ferret: very effective against material plugs, the ferret is a tool consisting of a drill, a long flexible cable and a handle. He avoids disassembling the sink! Remember to bring gloves and a bucket. Insert the cable into the pipe, then turn the handle clockwise until it reaches the plug. Hang it up, and move it up and down to break it and break it down.

5. Unclog a pipe with a high-pressure cleaner

If, despite all your attempts, your pipe remains clogged, you can, as a last resort (before calling a plumber) test a pressure washer with a drain hose.
You can rent one, sometimes supplied in a special kit to unclog the pipes. The hose is attached to the cleaner to propel the pressure through the line to loosen and disintegrate dirt. Put the tip in the opening of the pipe, then send the water under pressure. This should do the trick!
