How to make a vase of hyacinths, tulips or muscaris?
While awaiting the official arrival of spring, hyacinths, muscaris and daffodils are inviting in our interiors to bring a breath of fresh air. Available in a bucket at any florist, these spring bulbs offer us their colors and fragrances for only a few euros. Quick, follow our step by step to bring spring to your home!
Small bucket bulbs …
Bulbs, recycled jars and a tablespoon
Growing spring bulbs on the living room coffee table requires no special gardening skills or even specific materials. Simply put glass jars, vases or jam jars, arm yourself with a tablespoon and a little potting soil, and go and rob the garden center or the next-door florist. Muscari bulbs, hyacinths or tulips in a bucket. Knowing that each bucket costs between 2 and 5 euros on average, you can prepare 5 compositions for about 15 euros …
Then sit on the kitchen worktop or on a large table, which you can possibly protect with newspaper if you are worried about dirt.
Potting soil, bulbs in pots, containers, a spoon and that’s it.
Operation spring: 5 minutes chrono
Then fill the containers with a little potting soil with the spoon, then remove the plants from their buckets by holding them by the base and pulling gently. The small white roots, very decorative, can be gently peeled down, but as it is an ephemeral composition it is not mandatory. All that remains is to plant the bulbs in the container and add a little soil all around. Once the operation is over, we water with a trickle of water … And that’s it!
From the soil to the bottom of the jars, we separate the bulbs from the buckets and plant!

Depending on your decorative desires, you can also pack the jar in paper or burlap, add a raffia ribbon or masking tape or paste some patterns adhesives on the jar … These spring compositions last several weeks with a minimum of maintenance: just think of misting a little water from time to time to prevent the earth from drying, and remove the faded flowers as and when.
And for a maximum decorative effect, jars of hyacinths and muscaris are accumulated on a small table, in front of the window or on the chimney. Be careful however, hyacinths are very fragrant during their flowering and their smell can become heady if there are too many!
